Well-known manager of Harkins Palace
(downtown) from 1951 until 1968 when a fire caused closing of the lanes. During that time
he sponsored some half-dozen to dozen teams per season in various leagues at Harkins. Past
President of both the St. Paul BPA and Minnesota State BPA. It was during his reign as
proprietor president that the original Captain-Sponsor dinners were inaugurated, which
later broadened to become the present Bowler's Recognition Dinner. He began and managed
the St. Paul Singles Classic tournament which ended ten years later due to the fire.
Member of the committee composed of bowlers, proprietors and city officials that succeeded
in bringing the ABC tournament to St. Paul in 1965. Has attended 27 ABC tournaments and
was a delegate half dozen times. Has competed in local leagues for about 35 years. Sports
a 175 to 180 average over his career with a high series in the 680's and a high single
game of 279.
