Started bowling in 1936 at the age of
fourteen and worked as a pinsetter at Johnson's Lanes and Woog's Recreation in South St.
Paul. Once was a major owner of the North Star Lanes in West St. Paul. Served a one year
term as President of the St. Paul Bowling Proprietors Association and served on a
committee with Bill Manion and Fran Morrissetti developing St. Paul's Pepsi Jr. League.
Has belonged to many championship teams and replaced St. Paul Hall of Famer Rags Ragogna
as Captain of the St. Paul Hamm's Beer Team in 1964 when Rags retired from bowling. Scored
1891 in All Events in the 1963 ABC Tournament where he was a member of the St. Paul Hamm's
Beer Team that finished in sixth place. Achieved high average honors in the St. Paul City
League with a 204, North Star Classic League with a 213 and the Traveling 3-Man Team
League with a 209. Rolled a high game of 289 in the Minnesota "State" Tournament
while competing in Austin. Bowled on the Minnesota All Star TV Show three times and won
twice. Once finished one league game with nine strikes and started the next game with the
first nine strikes for eighteen strikes in a row. Has rolled many 279 games and at least
twenty-seven 700 or more series. Gave bowling instructions to many adults at North Star
lanes and put on a bowling clinic at the local high school on the gymnasium floor.
