George, seeded 13th
in the Match-Game portion of the tournament, cruised throught the winners
bracket, going undefeated and averaging 213.18. His opponent in the finals, coming out of the loser’s bracket,
was Bruce Smith. George defeated Bruce
in the Title game 219 to 198.
Bruce Smith defeated Ed
Mahagnoul 233-224 in the final of the Loser’s Bracket to have a chance against
George Peterson.
The average to make the top
16 was 207.67 and the High Qualifier was Tom Gallivan with a 242.17 average for 6 games.
For his efforts, George
received a winners check for $350, a plaque donated by Mike’s Pro Shop and a
Champions Jacket. Due to the response
of the bowlers bowling in the Tournament this year we have decided to send next
year’s winner to the National Senior Masters Tournament. The cost of the Tournament will need to be
raised to cover that entry.
Next years tournament will
be held Sunday, October 2, 2005 at a site to be determined in the near future.
The tournament is open to all St. Paul Sanctioned bowlers, 50 years of age and
over. Contact Matt Lang of the Greater
St. Paul Bowling Association at 651-415-2828 for further information or if
there are any other comments about the tournament whether they are good or
bad. Information is always helpful.
Do not forget the Masters
Tournament to be bowled on November 6th and 7th at Saxon
Lanes in Little Canada. Get your entry
in early as there is a limit on entries.
