John Eiss won the 10th Annual St. Paul Senior Masters Tournament on Sunday, October 7 at Cedarvale Lanes in Eagan, Minnesota.

42 senior bowlers participated in this year’s tournament. Each bowler bowled a 6 game qualifying block in the morning, with the top 16 moving on to the match play portion of the tournament in the afternoon. Match Play consisted of 1 game matches – double elimination format.
Ken, seeded 13th in the Match-Game portion of the tournament averaged 212.75 for 8 games. His opponent in the finals, who never lost in the winners bracket averaging 225 for the 4 games in the Winners Bracket, was Leif Carlson. John defeated Leif 246 to 231, and then 195 to 167 in the final two games to win the tournament.
John Eiss defeated Ken Holets 194-189 in the final of the Loser’s Bracket to have a chance against Leif.
The average to make the top 16 was 205.17 and the High Qualifier was Randy Bartz with a 231.17 average for 6 games.
For his efforts, John received a check for $350, a plaque donated by Mike’s Pro Shop, a Champions Jacket and a paid entry into the USBC Senior Masters, which will be held next July.
Next years tournament will be held Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Stars and Stripes in Wyoming. The tournament is open to all St. Paul Sanctioned bowlers, 50 years of age and over. Do not forget the 37th Annual Masters Tournament to be bowled on November 3rd and 4th at Mattie’s Lanes (formerly Wells Lanes) in South St. Paul. Get your entry in early, as there is a limit on entries.
